Day 312: Hunger For Hope

Thanksgiving is just around the corner which means one thing for most people. Food. However, there are those that are not as fortunate as others. Some will be grateful to just have something to eat for the day. Luckily, there are always ways to give back and provide food for others.

This afternoon at Albertson's there was this can sitting by the register. Just like it says, spare change could help to feed a family this upcoming holiday season. It is amazing how far a little change can go. Keep your eyes open for opportunities to give back this holiday season! I am sure there are plenty chances out there

God bless,

Day 147: Paid My Respects

Happy Memorial Day! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekends. I sure did because I was able to take a trip to Seattle to see friends, family and a new Miss Washington's Outstanding Teen. On my way home this afternoon I made a pitstop in Yakima to see my grandma and visit a place that holds a very special place in my heart. For those of you who don't know, I was born in Yakima and lived there for the first 5 or so years of my life. This is where all of my grandparents are from and where my grandmothers still reside. This means, unfortunately, that I have lost both of my grandfathers- too early I may add.

Buried just down the street from the house I grew up in, is my mother's father. That, is part of the reason why this particular cemetery is dear to me. But, it is also special because on a nice day my grandpa would take my brother and I down to the cemetery to feed the geese and ducks in the pond. Being there today brought back memories that felt like a life time ago and yet it feels like yesterday. I wasn't the only one paying my respects today. There was a great amount of people dropping by flowers and spending a little time with their lost love ones. It was a bittersweet feeling to be back, but mostly sweet knowing that my grandpa is in a much better place now. And although my dad's dad wasn't buried close to where I was today, he was still on my mind and played an instrumental part in my life.

Overall, it was just a fantastic day spending time with family and remembering those who have/ are serving to protect this great nation. God bless each and every one of them who are so selflessly placing us before them. We appreciate you and we thank you not just today, but always.

God bless our troops
God bless America
& God bless you,
Kailee

Day 4: Wrote A Thank You Letter Via Snail Mail

When I was a child, I LOVED receiving letters, magazines, or presents in the mail! Heck, I still love getting mail (minus bills, of course)! Unfortunately, to most, the art of letter writing is a relic of a bygone era. Within this art of writing, resides a good old fashioned thank you letter. Of course, any form of 'thank you' is usually appreciated, but sometimes when you are a volunteer a letter means the most. This is why, when a opportunity of gratitude presents itself you should take it!

Art is a Miss Tri-Cities volunteer, who cuts music for all of the contestants' talents. I am so grateful, because even though I am no longer Miss Tri-Cities and I am competing for a different title, he was very happy to help cut my music. After completing the cut, I asked if there was anything I could do for him to say thanks. He simply replied, "Oh no, I am happy to do it. Just think of this as my support for the betterment of young women." I said thank you a few times and tried to express my gratitude, but to me that is not enough. Art, for those of you that don't know, does so much for the organization without any expectation of praise.

I FOUND THIS CARD IN 'THE CARD BOX'. COULDN'T BE MORE PERFECT!

I only hope this is able to show how much I appreciate him, not only for the music he has given me, but for all he does for the betterment of young women.'
