Day 192: Strike Out ALS

For the past four years I have worked with the Tri-City Dust Devils. Each year, the ALS Association sponsors a game in hopes to raise awareness for the non-curable disease. To show support, game attendees can purchase a bracelet or magnet and all proceeds will go towards finding a cure. I donated a few dollars and received a bracelet in return.

For those who don't know ALS stands for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,or more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Basically, the body and muscle begin to uncontrollably shut down and, as mentioned, there is no cure quite yet. Every 90 minutes an American is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes an American will pass away from this disease. At this moment there are over 30,000 Americans living with ALS. According to the representative from the ALS Association, the most helpful way to support them is simply spread the word. Because there is no cure, awareness and donations will continue to push research further until we do find a cure!

God bless,
Kailee
