Day 274: It's In The Bag

September is represents many things. One of those being Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. And although it is now October, (crazy) it is never too late to recognize a good cause. This afternoon, I was at Safeway and on display they had reusable grocery bags on sale for $3. However, these were no ordinary bags. They were light blue with blue ribbons on them and said, "It starts with a wish. It can end with a cure." These particular bags were supporting prostate cancer. For every bag sold, $2 will be donated to prostate cancer research.

                                      

Buying a bag is really like killing two birds with one stone. The bag is reusable for groceries and the proceeds helped a great cause. Knowing that, I had to buy a bag.

Day 91: Returned Carts Their Place

I don't know about you, but I hate when people leave grocery carts in inconvenient places. Especially, when it is windy and those inconveniently placed carts just so happen roll right into a parked car. When the weather is horrid and the snow has packed the parking lot, leaving a cart is slightly more acceptable. However, today was b-e-a-utiful and customers should have the common courtesy to return their carts.

Since I was already at the grocery store, I took a little stroll around the parking lot and returned the stray carts to their corals. Some were far from where they should have been...

while others were just a few extra steps from where they needed to be.  

The point being, take a few seconds and be polite!

Day 14: Tipped the Bag Boy

Today, I made my way back up to school. I am happy to be back. I was welcomed back, however, with loads of snow...Because I have been gone for over a month I was in dire need of groceries. Naturally, I trekked my way to the store and had a bag boy help me with the mass amount of food I needed lugged to my car. The poor guy struggled as he shoved the cart through the snow. I offered to help, but he refused.

After loading all of the bags into my car, it was the least I could do to tip the boy a few dollars. However, it was his reaction that made me realize my action was more random than I had thought. He turned to walk away and I said, "Oh, thank you. Here you are." He looked stunned and said thank you. Then as he began to push my now empty cart away, he looked back and said, "Are you sure?" After reassuring him, he was on his way.

I had my mind set on a different act, but today's act was truly random and unexpected. However, this act felt more rewarding. Lastly, again I say and believe that it really is the little things that matter. I hope next time you too choose to unexpectedly surprise someone.
