Day 165: Gave Directions

It is moving day! Moving day for both me and many other Eastern students. Before actually hitting the road, I had to stop by the main building at Eastern to drop some stuff off. While making my way through the maze like building, I ran into a mother and daughter who looked awfully distraught. The mom walked one way, while the daughter began walking the other way. Knowing that look of confusion, I asked if there was something I could help them find? The duo explained what they were looking for and I showed them the way. They were very grateful and I was happy to help.

Being in a new place can be stressful and the last thing someone wants to do is walk around acting like they have no idea where they are going. It is always so nice to have someone show the way, especially at Eastern where it can be ultra confusing!

Anyways, I hope everyone had safe travels and I will see you in the fall!

God bless & go eags,
Kailee

Day 77: Fed Meters

It is that dreadful week again, the weeks of finals. As I type this, I am taking a break from a 16 page paper. With that said, I am going to keep this short. However, I would like you to know that my acts of kindness are a priority and even during finals week, I find time to make it happen. Most of the time, they find me (thankfully)!

Take today for instance. I took a break from studying and typing to practice for Miss Moses Lake this weekend at a studio on campus. Most of the parking on campus requires a parking permit or is a meter. I do not own a permit, so it was the meters for me! When I pulled into my spot, I noticed that the car's meter next to me was about to expire. With two minutes left, the owner was no where to be found. I dropped a dime in the slot and bought the stranger a bit more time. I hope they made it back in time!
The EWU parking patrol is always on the prowl. I know I would appreciate a stranger buying me some extra time, so that I too could avoid a parking ticket.

Happy finals week
& God bless,
Kailee

Day 65: EWU Gamma Phi Make-up Drive

Only four days left in the EWU's 26 days of kindness. Day 22 included a make-up drive put on by the Gamma Phi Beta sorority! The make-up donated in this drive will be donated to the Youth Women's Christian Association. The YWCA is a national organization and dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. For more information, you can click here.

To help, I went to a local grocery and picked up a thing of Maybelline foundation. Then I ran by the Gamma Phi house to drop off my donation! I've always been taught that make-up does not identify a person for who they are, it only enhances them. However, I also completely understand the feeling of looking great with a new compact of foundation or a vibrant new lip color. And, if you are like me, then maybe you don't always realize how fortunate you are to be able to run to the store to pick up a new tube of mascara. This was a cool way to give back and help contribute to empowering women.

God bless,
Kailee Dunn
